The Macarthur region covers an area of 3067 square kilometres. It has a population approaching 240,000 and has some 17,600 businesses operating in the region. Ideally located on major transport corridors, the region is within half an hour's travel to Sydney, Wollongong and international sea and airports. The region has a diversity of business enterprises, including manufacturing, farming, service industries and mining.

Macarthur Regional Organisation of Councils Community Profile

The MACROC Community Profile presents a comprehensive socio-demographic profile for the MACROC region at the municipality level and for smaller areas within it. The user is able to analyse local community characteristics and understand how they have changed over time. The site also allows you to compare your area to other areas within the Macarthur region.

Information is presented in a clear format which is designed to inform community groups, Council, investors, business, students and the general public. To achieve this, the Profile is formatted to present the data in simple, clear tables and charts with concise factual commentary.

The Macarthur Community profile compares the Macarthur region as a whole with the Sydney Statistical Division* and each of the Macarthur local governement areas against the Macarthur region as a whole.

The community profile is based upon the Australian Bureau of Statistics Census and includes information from the 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006 Census results.

Campbelltown's Communities Website

The 'Campbelltown's Communities' website contains four sections with information regarding the sustainability of the area and its communities:

  • Sustainability Indicators includes a range of information on Campbelltown's wellbeing, health and lifestyle.
  • Community Atlas includes key socio-demographic characteristics of the City of Campbelltown, presented as interactive maps.
  • Community Profile contains tables, charts and commentary on a range of Census variables for the City of Campbelltown and its suburbs.
  • Population forecasts provide population and household forecasts for the City of Campbelltown and its small areas.
