MEDIA RELEASE - New MACROC President Appointed

28 November 2014

Cr Paul Hawker of Campbelltown City Council has been elected the new President of the Macarthur Regional Organisation of Councils (MACROC) for the next two years.

Cr Hawker said it was an honour to be elected as President.

“I look forward to representing the Macarthur councils and to continue the excellent work of the Board and Executive, in ensuring the concerns of residents who live in the Macarthur region are raised at the highest levels.”

Cr Hawker was first elected to Campbelltown City Council in September 2004, and is well aware of the issues that affect the Macarthur region.

“My family and I have made Campbelltown and the Macarthur region home for 32 years, and it has been the perfect place to raise our family,” Cr Hawker said.

“Campbelltown and the Macarthur is a great place to live and work. I am committed to advancing the benefits of our region, as well as to continue to lobby both State and Federal Governments to ensure the Macarthur region and its communities are looked after – now and into the future.

“As MACROC President, I see my role as helping to promote the opportunities for social advancement and economic development in our region, as well as addressing the challenges that come with this. I look forward to working with the member councils closely over the next two years.”

The new Deputy President of MACROC is Cr Hilton Gibbs, from Wollondilly Shire Council.
