Media Release - New MACROC Executive Officer
Macarthur Regional Organisation of Councils (MACROC) recently announced the appointment of Ms Christine Winning as its new Executive Officer.
Ms Winning's aim is to position Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Councils as strong and strategic partners in a vibrant, growing region. She will be promoting the advantages of speaking with one voice on important issues that affect the entire Macarthur region.
Ms Winning has a strong knowledge of the issues affecting the region having come to MACROC from her position with the Macarthur office of the Office of the Minister for Western Sydney, a role she filled for seven years.
Before that Ms Winning worked for the NSW Department of Local Government so she also has an understanding of the issues councils face.
Ms Winning has lived in Camden for the past 11 years and says her children have certainly benefited from the excellent opportunities the Macarthur area offers.
"Macarthur is a wonderful place to live and raise a family," she said. "The region offers many benefits to its residents including a beautiful natural environment, a strong sense of community, and excellent leisure, cultural, and recreational facilities. There is a diverse selection of schools as well as an outstanding continuing education hub provided through the South Western Sydney Institute of TAFE and the Campbelltown campus of the University of Western Sydney," she said.
Ms Winning's view is that MACROC provides a unique platform for local residents to have a say in their futures via input to member Councils. The Organisation also enables the three local government areas to collectively influence positive outcomes for the development of the Region.
"MACROC is about facilitating and promoting economic and social development for the Macarthur Region while at the same time protecting our unique environment. It also seeks to promote co-operation between member Councils for the mutual benefit of business and local communities," she said.
"The team at MACROC will be working hard to ensure that the Macarthur area uses its combined strengths to formulate strategies which promote a Regional approach to issues and foster continued economic growth for the benefit of all who live and work in the three Council areas."
