19 October 2007

Approximately 85 people attended the Make It In Macarthur Investment Seminar held at the MLC Centre Martin Place Sydney on 18 October.

MACROC President Rob Elliott says "I was encouraged by the response of the investor community who believe that Macarthur is well positioned for a rapid growth spurt. This will mean more investment and more jobs for Macarthur residents".

Several industry experts spoke at the Seminar, highlighting business opportunities and major development projects in the Region. The three General Managers from Campbelltown City Council, Camden Council and Wollondilly Shire Council made presentations highlighting connectivity, commerce and the liveability aspects of the Region.

"It was pleasing to hear from investors that Councils were providing a welcoming environment for business development with DAs' processed in good time", said Rob Elliott.

"I am positive that Councils' good regulatory performance, effective collaboration between MACROC Councils on planning issues and competitively priced employment land will continue to drive growth in investment in the region" said Rob Elliott.

The Make It In Macarthur Seminar was the climax of a three-week marketing campaign lead by MACROC in collaboration with Industry Partners – Australand, CABE and Investa. The University of Western Sydney and the Greater West Sydney Economic Development also supported this investment drive which covered, NSW, Queensland, Victoria and the ACT. The campaign comprised a promotional insert in the Financial Review on 27 September 2007, followed by a mail out to over 2,000 prospective businesses.
